Velvet Libido Origins: (Part 7)

“Why do you think Rex has such a dark and traumatic origin story?” Dr. Gloria asked once he had finished the tale.

He shrugged at the question, not certain how to answer.  “I guess I always just assumed that some humor is born from darkness, but I think Rex is more complicated than that.  I feel like that tragedy forged him into the man he’d become.”

“Your story explains his affectation for fur vests but not the leather pants.”

“Some things just defy explanation,” he shrugged again with a smile.

“And the killers just got away with murder?” Dr. Gloria asked for clarification.  “That seems like another layer of darkness that is hiding just under the surface.”

“Oh, no,” he replied quickly.  “Tex got them all for another murder charge as part of his multi-state task force.  Tex always gets his man.”

“Or woman,” Dr. Gloria corrected him with a smile.

“Nah,” he failed to notice the smile.  “Tex isn’t as good with the ladies as Rex is.”

“Why is Rex so good with the ladies?”

“If I knew that, maybe I’d have one of my own.”

“I see,” Dr. Gloria wrote some notes on her yellow notepad.  “Tell me about Hyph’n, the dark and mysterious one.  Where does he come into play?”
